About The Project
Hyperlane is a protocol for connecting blockchains so that applications can pass messages between them. Its airdrop, covered by CoinDesk, launched the HYPER token in April 2025.
Earlier text on this page said the airdrop was still open. It has finished.
Why This Airdrop Matters
The sources disagree on size. CoinDesk reported that 57% of the token supply would go to users, with the airdrop on 22 April, while the Hyperlane Foundation's own newsletter said 7.5% of HYPER would be distributed to users and developers in the initial airdrop. The 57% figure appears to cover all user-facing distributions and the 7.5% the initial airdrop alone, but the sources do not spell that out.
The dates also vary. The Defiant gave the token generation event as 20 April and CoinDesk as 22 April, and the newsletter said pre-claims ran until 15 April at 19:00 UTC. The Defiant reported the airdrop included more than 340,000 unique wallets, and eligible users could choose between HYPER and stHYPER.
The airdrop was fully unlocked for community recipients, while core team and investor tokens were locked for the first 12 months.
Binance ran a separate HODLer Airdrop for users who subscribed BNB to Simple Earn between 14 April and 17 April 2025, with trading from 22 April at 13:00 UTC. Binance listed a genesis total supply of 802,666,667 HYPER and a maximum of 1,000,000,000.
The pre-claim and the choice between two tokens show a protocol trying to make recipients decide between holding and staking at the moment of receipt. That is a good design for long-term alignment and a confusing one for newcomers.
Finally, the stHYPER option is worth understanding in its own right. A staked version of a token usually carries lock-up or unbonding terms, and it may be exposed to slashing or smart-contract risk that the plain token is not. Choosing between the two at the point of claim means deciding on risk and liquidity at the busiest, most confusing moment. Read the staking terms before you choose, not after.

Because figures in different outlets conflict, rely on the foundation's newsletter and the Binance announcement for exact numbers.
