About The Project

Kakarot was an open-source zkEVM, a way of running Ethereum-style smart contracts inside zero-knowledge proofs, developed by KKRT Labs. Its own repository described it as a work in progress that was not ready for production, though that page is an older snapshot.

Earlier versions of this page presented an airdrop and a token. Our searches found neither.

Why This Airdrop Matters

In November 2025, Zama announced that it had acquired KKRT Labs, a research and development firm focused on scaling blockchains using zero-knowledge proofs. Zama works on fully homomorphic encryption, so the deal suggests Kakarot's technology and team were absorbed into a different roadmap, and that plans for an independent product and token may have changed.

Earlier funding was modest and well backed: a 2023 ForkLog report says Kakarot closed a pre-seed round with participation from Vitalik Buterin and StarkWare co-founders. That report does not mention a token.

None of the results we found mentions a KKRT token, a token launch or an airdrop, and none covers 2026. Without a token, there is nothing to claim and nothing to qualify for. Pages that list steps for a "Kakarot airdrop" are speculation, usually written to collect referrals.

Acquisitions of research teams are common in the Layer 2 space and often end the plan for a stand-alone token, because the acquirer folds the team into its own product. That is not a certainty, but it is the more likely reading.

It also helps to see why teams like this are acquired. Zero-knowledge engineering talent is scarce, and a company building encryption technology gains more from a team that already knows how to prove computations than from a token. For users, the outcome is that the stand-alone chain many once expected may not appear in its original form. Anyone who held assets or integrated with Kakarot should read the acquiring company's notices about the product's future.

Participation Guide

Treat any message about a Kakarot or KKRT claim as a scam. For news on the technology, follow Zama's announcements and the project's repository, and check that any KKRT contract you see has no link to the team. If you took part in earlier testnet activity, nothing in the sources suggests you are owed anything.
