Why This Airdrop Matters
ISLAND has a fixed supply of one billion tokens, launched as an ERC-20 on Ethereum and designed to move to Base and later Solana through LayerZero. The token generation event took place on 17 December 2024 and was delayed into the afternoon after the game's X account was hijacked.
The play-to-airdrop share is 12.6% in Decrypt's later coverage and 12.5% in its earlier article and the team's Notion page, which also shows a shift in the broader community pool from 40% to 38.6%. Payouts depended mostly on airdrop points earned by collecting Blooms, plus a collector tier based on on-chain holdings of connected accounts, with a snapshot on 16 December. Holders of eligible partner-community NFTs from a separate Wave 3 were included.
The nine-month campaign ended on 1 November 2024 and had more than 140,000 active wallets. Whether airdropped tokens were fully liquid at launch is unresolved: Decrypt says they were, while the Notion page says 25% was liquid at launch.
