About The Project
Orbiter Finance is a cross-chain bridge. Its token launch, which the team timed to Inauguration Day, is described by The Block.
OBT is an ERC-20 token with a total supply of 10 billion, launched on Ethereum, Arbitrum and Base, with roughly 2.8 billion tokens, 28%, circulating at launch.
Why This Airdrop Matters
About 40% of total supply was set aside for the community. The first airdrop was 22%, and a 3% airdrop each month for six months was planned afterwards. Spreading the remaining community tokens over six months was meant to avoid one large sell-off, and it also kept participants engaged.
Eligibility rules were detailed. Users had to have used the protocol for at least two months since December 2021 and own at least 40 OPoints. Discord moderators, holders of the Ace and Expert NFTs and winners of project-organised offline events were also set to receive tokens, with a second NFT-holder snapshot on 19 January.
The other allocations were 20% for ecosystem growth, 15% for the Orbiter Foundation, 15% for the team and contributors, and 10% for seed and Series A investors. On-chain governance was slated to open in February 2025, with staking planned for the second quarter.
The Itiger report confirms the unlocks happened on 20 January, and another Itiger report noted a 50% rally on a Bithumb listing announcement. We did not check later changes to the monthly schedule or the current status of the token.
A "Trump Inauguration Day" launch is marketing, but the substantive question is whether a bridge needs a token at all. Fees on cross-chain transfers are small, and the token's value rests on governance and on whatever the foundation does with the ecosystem allocation.
One practical habit for anyone who used bridges in 2022 and 2023 is to keep records of dates and chains. Many airdrops, including this one, looked back years, and people who had not saved their history often could not tell whether they qualified. A simple spreadsheet of the chains and dates you used costs nothing and helps with any future programme.
Participation Guide
If you were eligible, check Orbiter's official channels for the monthly rounds and whether they were completed as planned. Because there were several rounds, anyone offering a "final claim" page deserves suspicion. Use only addresses published on the official site, and keep bridge approvals tidy by revoking old ones after use.
