ZKsync

ZKsync announced the airdrop on 11 June 2024. It represented 17.5% of the 21 billion supply and was split between users (89%) and contributors (11%). The snapshot was based on activity before 24 March 2024 at 00:00 UTC, the one-year anniversary of the ZKsync Era mainnet launch, and wallets had to have used zkSync Era or zkSync Lite before that date. Criteria included interacting with 10 smart contracts, trading 10 ERC-20 tokens or depositing liquidity into a DeFi protocol.

Each address was capped at 100,000 tokens. Claims went live on 17 June 2024 and ran until 3 January 2025, and contributors could claim from 24 June. ZKsync reported that more than 45% of the airdropped supply had been claimed by over 225,000 addresses in under two hours, which The Defiant also highlighted.

imToken warned users that anyone offering to sell you ZK is a scammer, a reminder that claim-day demand creates a market for fake offers.

The cap of 100,000 tokens limited the amount any one address could take, which reduced the benefit of splitting funds across many wallets and protected small recipients. Counting contributors separately at 11% was a way to reward developers.

A claim period of more than six months is generous, and the fast initial uptake shows that most recipients claimed within days.

Large airdrops attract both opportunists and scammers. The Sybil filtering applied to the ZKsync list meant that some wallets that looked eligible were excluded, and an appeals or review step, where offered, is the legitimate route to challenge it. People should be careful with anyone who claims to be able to restore an excluded allocation for a fee, since this is a well-known scam.

Governance rights attached to ZK also matter, and holders should understand how voting and delegation work.
