About The Project
Celestia is a modular data availability network. Its airdrop, called the Genesis Drop, is described in Celestia's own post Initiating Genesis Drop and in Blockworks coverage.
The page replaces earlier text with no figures.
Why This Airdrop Matters
Celestia's post says the Genesis Drop invited 7,579 developers and 576,653 on-chain addresses from Ethereum rollups, Cosmos Hub and Osmosis. The total was 60 million TIA, about 6% of supply. Claims went through genesis.celestia.org and the window closed on 17 October 2023 at 12:00 UTC. US persons could not receive the drop.
Sources describe the split differently. One report puts 20 million to public-goods researchers and contributors, another 20 million to early users of Ethereum rollups, and the rest to stakers and IBC relayers, while another report arranges the groups differently. Check the official table before relying on any one version.
A French guide describes tiering by an activity score, a snapshot on 1 January 2023 and a minimum delegation of about $75 on Cosmos Hub or Osmosis. I could not confirm those thresholds in Celestia's own documentation, so they are marked as secondary.
The scam warning is the most practical detail. Celestia stated that the claim site, its team and the foundation will never ask for a private key, and one search result advertised a "300 TIA" claim that does not match the official drop.
Rewarding rollup users and relayers, not only holders, was a distinctive design: it tried to pay people who actually used the surrounding ecosystem.
The airdrop is often cited as a reference design for rewarding a whole ecosystem. By including Ethereum rollup users, Cosmos stakers and IBC relayers, it extended eligibility beyond one chain, and by separating developers from users it acknowledged different kinds of contribution. Critics note that exclusion of US persons removed a large group. Anyone studying modular blockchains can use this page as a starting point, then read the original post for the exact tables.
Participation Guide
The Genesis Drop claim period is over. If you hold TIA, use official documentation for staking and delegation. Do not trust any page claiming to extend the claim window, never share a private key and check the web address carefully.
