Why This Airdrop Matters
CoinMarketCap says GalaChain runs on a network of Founder's Nodes whose operators earn daily GALA and have voting rights on some decisions. There was no ICO or similar issuance, and new tokens go only to Founder's Node operators, starting in September 2020 per 1inch. Rewards are split 50:50 between node operators and the Conservatorial Entity, which is Gala itself, with emissions following a formula tied to total supply and a halving at supply milestones.
Gas spent on GalaChain is burned, which reduces circulating supply. 1inch lists a 50 billion cap and about 49.9 billion in circulation in a September 2026 snapshot, while Babypips, which is older, shows about 36.81 billion. Governance is also described differently: 1inch says votes happen among node operators through the node software, with no on-chain token-holder voting.
A 2023 ForkLog article titled as a GALA v2 airdrop describes about $25 million in node compensation for former pGALA holders after a Huobi arrangement. I could not confirm the mechanics from the excerpt.
The upshot is that GALA is earned by running nodes, which requires buying them, not claimed for free.
A split that gives half of new tokens to the company is a design choice worth weighing against the open market price.
Founder's Node rewards are best seen as a business model, not an airdrop. Running a node requires buying one, then waiting for emissions that fall as supply grows, and the value of the reward is the GALA price at the time. Compare the cost of a node with realistic earnings after any halving before deciding, and be sceptical of marketing that skips those numbers.
