Binance gave out 350 million PIXEL to users who staked BNB or a stablecoin from 9 February until the listing on 19 February. That was 7% of a 5 billion supply. In the player airdrop, 20,000 wallets qualified in the first round in 2023 and another 8,000 were picked in January 2024.

For RON stakers, Pixels set aside 20 million PIXEL. The snapshot was on 8 February and the pool was split into two rounds: the first at launch on 19 February and the second about a month later. A later update says the second snapshot was on 8 March, only wallets eligible in the first one qualified and payouts scaled by RON tier.

PIXEL began trading on 19 February 2024 on several exchanges including Binance, BingX, Bitget and KuCoin, and trading volume exceeded $1 billion within a day.

A first-day volume figure of that size shows interest, but it also reflects fast selling by recipients.

The RON staking component tied the airdrop to another token, so some of the reward went to people who held RON for its own reasons.

The RON staker allocation is an example of a project borrowing another community's holders. By rewarding people who staked another token, Pixels reached a ready audience on the same chain without needing to find new users, and it tied its launch to a network that already had an active gaming base. Recipients who held RON for other reasons received the bonus without doing anything with the game.
