According to the wiki, the token generation airdrop went to players who took part in any of the eight Gift Mystery Box airdrops or played in the last patch. Payouts ranged from 2,300 to 50,000 BIGTIME and were set by points, calculated like the Mystery Box points but counting several months of activity.

The wiki says the airdrop was designed to start the game economy by giving players the tokens needed for cosmetic crafting while hourglass crafting ramped up. A weekly newsletter reported that 97,500,000 BIGTIME would be distributed over three months and that the token listed on exchanges including Coinbase and OKX after the pre-season launch, reaching an all-time high of $0.3012.

Earlier rounds are separate. A 2023 report said the first airdrops would arrive in February 2023 and continue monthly, involving game NFTs and the then-upcoming $TIME token.

I did not find the original announcement, the claim deadline or the eligibility checker in these results.

Because most of the supply is locked, the number in circulation is much smaller than the total, which is a risk for later unlocks.

Rewards that are meant to start an in-game economy, as this one was, tend to be spent quickly on crafting, which can limit selling pressure at first. Over time the market price depends on whether players keep using the tokens in the game, so the long-term test is activity after the airdrop and not the amount distributed.
