Season 1 distributed 7,500,000 DMAIL, described by KuCoin as 3.75% of total supply. Claiming opened on 30 January 2024 and eligible users had 30 days, so the window closed at the end of February 2024. To qualify, a user needed to have sent at least three messages, to have five contacts and to have reached 1,200 task points.

The status of Season 2 is unclear. One source says 4,500,000 DMAIL were allocated to a second season that was not yet live when it was written, and another says Season 2 was open only to holders of Dmail points. I could not confirm that it ran or how it paid out.

A later announcement said funding raised would be returned to the community through an airdrop of $ckDMAIL tokens, run with the Oisy wallet, linked to the Internet Computer. I found no completion details.

Qualifying by sending messages is a usage test, but it is easy to automate, which is why points thresholds are used. A threshold of 1,200 points means the main gain went to people who completed many tasks.

Messaging and email products collect personal information, which makes an airdrop campaign a privacy decision as well as a financial one. Linking a wallet to a mail identity can reveal who you are to the service. Read how data is stored, whether messages are encrypted and what can be linked to your wallet, and decide whether the reward is worth that exposure.

Finally, remember that points and task thresholds can be changed by the team, so a balance that qualified in one season may not in the next.
