About The Project

edgeX is a perpetual futures exchange backed by Amber Group, and The Defiant reported that it would launch its token on 31 March 2026. EDGE has a total supply of 1 billion tokens.

This is a case where the airdrop happened and produced a public argument, which makes it a useful lesson in checking distributions.

Why This Airdrop Matters

The allocation

One report says 25% of supply was to be airdropped at the token generation event, with up to a further 5% for participants in the Pre-TGE Season points programme. The project's tokenomics page now lists a 30% airdrop allocation as circulating, 30% as a future reserve, 25% for team and investors, and 5% each for foundation, ecosystem and community, and liquidity. It also lists a 4.56% buyback and burn from cumulative revenue.

On 19 April 2026, part of the airdrop tokens were moved into the edgeX Spot contract so users could redeem them.

The allegation

On-chain analyst how2onchain alleged that the team airdropped most of the drop to itself through more than 80 fresh wallets, with about 180 million tokens worth over $90 million. As Our Crypto Talk reported, co-founder KF.edge replied that the wallets do not belong to the team and that the central wallet is a proxy used for the airdrop.

The reported lock

One report, hosted on MEXC, says edgeX would lock 140 million EDGE, 14% of supply, for a year after the backlash. We found only that source, and no official announcement, so we treat it as unconfirmed. The allegation and the denial both remain unresolved in the material we found.

Taken together, the episode shows why allocation tables on a website are only the start. After any airdrop, look at the first-day on-chain data, see how large the biggest recipient wallets are, and read how the team explains them. A transparent project publishes its distribution wallets in advance. Where it does not, expect arguments like this one, and weigh the risk of a concentrated supply before buying.

Participation Guide

If you were an edgeX user, check the official redemption path in the Spot contract rather than third-party sites. The lesson for anyone assessing an airdrop is to look at the on-chain distribution after launch and see how many tokens went to a few wallets. Be careful with posts that claim to show "proof" without linking to transactions, and with sites promising to recover missed edgeX rewards.
